About Me

I LOVE belly dance and everything to do with it; the costumes, the make-up, the music, the culture, the country. I first discovered this beautiful, engaging dance form when a new class started near my home. I was going through a time in my life when I wanted to do something different and rebellious and this seemed the perfect option! One class and I was hooked.
I have been dancing Middle Eastern dance for about twelve years now, and I still love to learn. It never ends; there is always something new to learn.
It wasn't until it was suggested that I should think about teaching myself that I even considered it. And so I found myself on a course to learn about the safe delivery of teaching.
I have been teaching for four years now, originally in Hesketh Bank, but now in both Penwortham and Wigan. I also perform when I can at different venues and give talks and demonstrations at local Women's Institutes.
I prefer the modern Egyptian style and I have visited Cairo several times to experience the atmosphere of this marvellous city where so many famous belly dancers have come from and still perform, and also to witness the changing styles in the dance over there.
As a child, I learnt the usual ballet, tap and modern dances, but these eventually got taken over by music, which for a long time was her main love in life and one in which I wanted my career to be made of. Unfortunately, this never happened. However, over the twelve years that I have been dancing, I have discovered that this is the new love in my life and it has overtaken my music.
