Talks and Demonstrations



Want to learn more about the history of belly dance? Ever wanted to give it a go? This is the perfect opportunity for both. I am available to provide talks on the history of this fascinating dance form, followed by a demonstration of various different styles within the term 'belly dance'.

Women Institutes

These sessions begin with a talk about the history of belly dance, changes in attitude and different styles and costumes. Th
i s is followed by the passing around of different costumes which you can feel and 'weigh up' before a demonstration of several different styles under the term 'belly dance'. Then it's your turn to give it a try. Coin hip belts w ill be supplied for you to put on while you shimmy your way through basic moves and we dance our way through a couple of Egyptian pop tracks.
Sessions normally last for an hour but can be negotiated.
Prices start at £50 per hour plus travel expenses.


Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows
These sessions begin with a short talk about belly dance (optional) followed by pass the costume where you can see and feel the different styles available. A short demonstration can follow (optional) before the girls (and leaders!) can have a go. I will introduce props (sagat/finger cymbals) and/or veil before teaching a few basic moves. Then we can dance our way through a couple of Egyptian pop pieces. Coin hip belts will be supplied for you to wear while you shimmy and strut your stuff.
Sessions normally last for an hour but can be negotiated.
Prices start at £60 p
er hour plus travel expenses.


Community events
Got an event coming up and want something different?
I am available to either;
  • Give a talk on the history of belly dance before giving a demonstration on various styles within this dance form, followed by audience participation,
  • Give a talk only,
  • Give a demonstration only
Sessions normally last for an hour but can be negotiated.
Prices start at £50 per hour plus travel expenses.



Schools
These sessions are designed for older children in mind and will start with a short talk about the history of belly dance (optional) before different styles of costume will be presented for you to look at and 'weigh up'. I will then provide a short demonstration of the different styles (as required)  before I teach one or two props (sagat/finger cymbals,and/or veil). Then it's your turn to have a go, learning basic moves before dancing your way through one or two Egyptian pop pieces. Coin belts will be available for you to wear as you shimmy and shake.
Sessions normally last for an hour but can be negotiated.
Prices start at £60 per hour plus travel expenses.
A whole morning (up to 3 hours) £100.00 plus travel.

I am insured to teach all ages and are fully C.R.B. cleared, a copy of which is available upon request.
